So as you know guys, for the past year or so I’ve suffered on and off with various colds, chest infections and viruses, this I have noticed coincided with my ‘monthly cycle’ I was therefore convinced there was a connection! To be honest I got sick and tired of being sick and tired and going to the doctor! Anyways after my last lurgy I made an appointment to see the doc AGAIN! I couldn’t get to see my regular doctor so ended up booking with another who, would you believe was the mother of a client I do so have known her ages, and she’s just started working at my surgery. Thankfully when I went to see her she agreed that HRT was worth a try, horrah I quietly muttered to myself as she wrote the prescription. As I’m still annoyingly having regular periods and have a Mirena coil fitted due to very painful fibroids, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to have HRT, but after all the usual checks it was decided I could give it a try for 3 months.
So here we are coming to the end of the first month, I haven’t had any illnesses AND I haven’t had a period either…….. Is this the shape of things to come then? I bloody hope so, at the ripe old age of 53, 54 in July I’ve had enough of the old monthly visitor and it’s inconveniences! I’m also sleeping like a log! Even bigger bonus, no laying awake till 2:30am counting sheep…….
I also have botox in my bladder to help in the waterworks area, ahem, I think you ladies know what I mean!!! Recently I had my second dose, it lasts around six months and I certainly noticed the effects wearing off. When the gynaecologist examined me she noticed the fibroids, for years I’d thought the fibroids and the ahem, waterworks were related but nobody said there was any research to show this is the case! To me the only research I needed was my own body, which told me at certain times of the month my ‘waterworks’ were very unreliable at the least.
Hopefully now though, with the HRT and the demise of my periods my fibroids will finally shrink into total insignificance and bugger off once and for all and I can starjump with total confidence ha ha.
It just goes to show ladies if you are persistent and push for what you think is right and listen to your body, hopefully and eventually you will get answers. It’s certainly no fun being a woman of a certain age, all our problems seem to be below the waist and above the knees!! I have a three month supply of HRT and then I’ll have a review.
It’s been an emotional old time since I got back from holiday, and had a lot on hence the lack of posts but I’ve finally found time to sit down and update you with my goings on. HRT certainly hasn’t stopped me crying at the drop of a hat, but I guess that’s just me!!
Sorry if there’s any men out there who’ve read this, it’s not really your cup of tea, but the clue of the subject matter is in the title so I guess if you carry on reading then you know what your gonna get!!! Ha ha.
Hope your all well and not missed me too much.
Lots of love
